Troubleshooting

Fixes for the most common “can’t open”, “can’t activate”, and “charts not loading” issues.

The app won’t open

macOS: “can’t be opened” / “developer cannot be verified”

  1. Right‑click the app → Open, then confirm.
  2. If macOS still blocks it: System Settings → Privacy & Security → click Open Anyway.
  3. If it still fails (rare), run:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/1K_Scanner.app

Windows: SmartScreen

Click More infoRun anyway.

Activation fails / activation window keeps coming back

  • Confirm your license key at 1kscanner.com/settings and paste it again.
  • Check your internet connection (VPN / proxy / firewall can block it).
  • Check system time and timezone (wrong clock can break secure checks).
  • Try restarting the app after a successful activation.

The app verifies your license regularly. If the server can’t be reached, you may see repeated activation prompts.

Charts are blank / not updating

  • Try a different symbol, exchange, or timeframe (some combinations are not supported).
  • If you loaded many tabs quickly, the exchange may temporarily block requests (rate‑limit). Wait a bit and avoid rapid reloading.

Performance feels slow

  • Reduce the number of visible charts (smaller grid, fewer tabs).
  • Turn off heavy overlays and keep only the signals you need.
  • Close other heavy apps and try again.

Advanced reset (only if support asks)

The app stores files under your system config folder. If you delete them, it can reset activation or layout. Do this only if you understand the impact.

  • License key file (common): ~/Library/Application Support/MultiChart/license.txt (macOS) or %APPDATA%\\MultiChart\\license.txt (Windows) or ~/.config/MultiChart/license.txt (Linux)
